I'll admit to having quite a chuckle about this as well. I've been wondering how the GOP would screw this election up as it turns out the DNC forced them to it with a wonderful bit of political strategy by backing this idiot in the Republican primary knowing he's likely to screw up. Well played.

>That Senate seat was right there for the taking, then Mr. Akin had to open his yap. Everyone from Romney on down has been calling for him to drop out and he is staying in. Stay in, stay in! For those outside the U.S. or who don't follow politics closely, Akin put two words together that should never be put together: legitimate rape. Unbelievable.

The only thing guaranteed now is that the "show me state" is going to be showing the Senate another idiot.

"If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

"George Bush let people die on rooftops in New Orleans because they were poor and because they were black"

Well done, Missouri.

Update : and then there's this ironic bit of event timing. ;)
