Damn those stealth vegans! What a way to ruin dinner.

I'm one of those meat eaters that likes to taste the meat, thankyouverymuch. My husband always gets a chuckle out of the wait-person asking me which steak sauce I want and my reply is always "Why? Is there something wrong with the meat?", so the biggest thing I find off-putting is the whole "MUST have something covering the steak completely" trend I'm seeing in restaurant advertisements. No, really, if I want smothered steak, I wouldn't be spending the money on good meat, and if you're not gonna serve me good meat, I'll eat at home - I've got a GREAT grill and I know how to use it.

>>Ok, now that's just wrong! Too small or too expensive....just sad, very sad.

>And do not get me started when both things happen :) Or worse, some 13 years ago, new to the city and customs, we used to meet a group of friends every first Friday of the month in a local restaurant chain (White Spot) and the first time around I ask for a "Portobello Mushroom Steak"... To my disgust the "Steak" WAS the portobello mushroom!! It was a vegetarian platter. of course after I finished it I asked for a proper 12oz New York Steak! Nowadays we go from time to time to a different chain "Montanas" where they have a "Portobello Mushroom Steak" which I almost always ask for, for it is the way it should be, a steak WITH portobello mushroom!
