>After searching through the archives and not finding a clear answer, I have the following situation. I would like to add a command button allowing me to transfer data via "some type of dial-up" to another stand alone machine. This machine would then process the incoming data and send back a resultant file. Both machines would be running VFP apps. Is this possible? If so, please point me in some type of direction. Any and All responses greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jamie,
I've not done this sort of thing, though it does definately sound "do-able." And yes, your tool *may* be MSCOMM32. I say *may* because I tried using MSCOMM32 for something previously and found scant VFP documentation about it and spent a lot of time stuggling. My best documentation resource was in the VB sample code area at microsolft.com. Go figger. There I found an example in VB code that I translated to VFP.
Also, I suggest that you may want to look into PDQComm by Cresent Software. This is the ActiveX product from which MSCOMM32 is licenced. It is marketed as a VB product but shouldn't be a problem in VFP -comments anyone? :-) It has more features, lots of documentation and sample code and is/was $178.00 when purchased online. Good luck.
