Not quite sure what "characterization" you're talking about. I said IMO the entire issue of this thread is really one of lack of documentation
of this particular behaviour. I wasn't disparaging the quality of the docs in general, I think they're actually fairly good and complete.
If you spent unpaid/uncredited time making them better, kudos to you, John.
