First part only in german translation as GF was awake - which subtracted most of the behavioural clues.
Second part I switched over to US channel. The effect was clear: Romney was the better salesman.

That said, the debates are becoming too much poised for TV for my taste:
I did not believe either one and Obama did get some points on my score card
as I had the impression of him not wanting to lie too much.
But Romney still won the beauty contest, to a large degree.

Somehow I don't think Romney will integrate better, even if that worked as a gov.
And his missing numbers were clearly felt - maybe even more in translation.

>You seem to be very up on American politics. Did you by any chance see the presidential debate last night? It was a good night for Mitt Romney. He came across as knowledgeable, poised, and up to the job. My main takeaway was that the country will not fall apart if he is elected. The debate was cordial, no attacks or slanders from either side. Their positions are not that far apart on most issues. Romney is close to the center for a Republican and Obama is close to the center for a Democrat. That said, there are still some substantive differences between them. There weren't a lot of details on how Romney plans to pay for his tax cuts or which specific government spending he plans to reduce or eliminate. Instant opinion polls showed Romney as the clear winner. I am not overly concerned about the instant reaction to one debate. I think Romney is going to find the foreign policy debate more problematic. There are also some questions in my mind about the pollees. Knowing the Republicans, it wouldn't surprise me if they packed the house with people claiming to be undecided who were not in fact undecided. We'll see. Campaigns have ebbs and flows. It was a good night for Romney, no question. I still consider it an undecided race with a month to go.
