Do the stats support the idea that many bullied kids are gay or perceived as gay? If it's true then it needs to be stated openly so parents and churches can do the right thing. If gays aren't over-represented then the Christians have a point: the promoters are using a worthy cause to disguise a different message. This has nothing to do with being gay or anti-gay: if people start using causes as an envelope to sneak other messages past the watchful eyes of parents, that devalues the worthy cause and reduces its ability to be promoted. Those responsible do need to be called to task. I'd also observe that adding somebody to a list of hate organizations because they successfully oppose your intentions, has never been associated with well-meaning people in my experience.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
