>In Firefox, when we download a file, it shows a dialog with a detected known file type. For example, I can have "Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation". In Firefox, is this coming from a custom text string or there is a libray out there for the proper naming convention related to a file type? The reason I ask is that I have a FileType table with the title of the file type. For that one, I put "PowerPoint file". But, when I saw it in Firefox, which is a better representation of the file type, it triggers a concern as to know if there is a proper way of indicating that.

FireFox may be enumerating and using the Windows registered file types stored in the Registry. There is some information at http://www.awitness.org/delphi_pascal_tutorial/source4/registry_associated_applications.html .

You can also Google [windows registered file types enumerate].
