1. Yes. IMO, go to Win8.

2. Yes.

3. They should, but you can use multi-targeting in VS and still work with older versions of .Net. Do not confuse VS with .Net. They are different animals. VS is simply a tool that lets you develop apps for .Net. You can use Notepad to develop ..Net apps and never buy or install VS.

4.Yes.

5. No, The only things you can install on RT are Windows RT apps that come from the Windows app store.

6. Everything should run, except if you get Windows RT. See #5. Microsoft has an online compatibility checker that you can run before the upgrade.
