I do hope WP8 makes phone OS group a tripod, but I doubt MS can overcome the "MS mobile trend"
which clearly is more than the "wait for version 3" seen in PC software. But reading:

"With Windows Phone 8, you can finally connect the device to your PC and access the device’s file system just like any other portable storage device. This lets you drag and drop files to and from the phone and, on devices with microSD storage, between that card and the phone’s internal storage." (emphasis mine)

makes me cringe if I think this OS comes from the clear market leader of PC OS - WTF were they thinking before ?

get viewed as cool because/when following those traits the iPhone gets critized sometimes ?

This was possible long before android took the smartphone market by storm with the back then
leading high end phone OS Symbian on devices like E50,E51 early this century
and sometimes with low class devices.
