You are talking about different things.
There are several ways that we can generate Excel worksheets.
- Using Excel automation commands
- Creating spreadsheet using the XML format
- Creating the XLS file directly, by sending the binaries directly to the file, doing all the byte manipulation before.
Foxypreviewer also allows exporting to XLS type, with just one click! In that case, I use the XML format, thanks to Alejandro Sosa's Excel Listener class, that was modified and updated to work in FoxyPreviewer.
I think that XFRX uses MS-OFFICE automation commands to create the Excel file.
