It would be nice to see us get rid of the Electoral College - I don't think we need it anymore. The whole reason it was created in the first place was because the founding fathers didn't trust the common man to know enough about the issues to make an educated vote. Now that we have radio, tv, internet, etc people have the ability to get all the info they need.

Thus far four candidates have won the popular vote but lost the presidency: Andrew Jackson won the popular vote but lost the election to John Quincy Adams (one of my great-grandfathers) (1824); Samuel J. Tilden won the popular vote but lost the election to Rutherford B. Hayes (1876); Grover Cleveland won the popular vote but lost the election to Benjamin Harrison (1888); ..and as we all remember quite well Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the election to George W. Bush (2000).

>This will change drastically over the next couple of hours (and days), but it's interesting to note the difference between electoral and popular votes:

>Obama:
>Electoral Votes: 64
>Popular Vote: 48% 3,497,217 votes

>Electoral Votes: 40
>Popular Vote: 51% 3,643,386 votes
