I was not aware that GHW Bush won reelection. I thought that Clinton won after GHW Bush served one term?

>The Democrats have been declared dead in the past too. The most recent was when GHW Bush won reelection.

>>I think that the Republicans have a few choices between now and 2016. One is to retain the same policies and platform, or modify it. Now if you modify it what do you do? You could become more extreme, and refine those policies you have in place that are your foundation. Or you could attempt to appeal to what is perceived as your voting constituency and those groups you wish to vote for you who did not do so in this election.
>>
>>If you retain the same policies you risk loosing more voters. To become more extreme would hasten the retreat of people voting for Republicans. So it would seem that you should aim towards getting minorities to vote for you in greater numbers. But if you do you will loose your base, most of whom are in the South and Mid West.
>>
>>You have a real dilemma to resolve and one that does not have an easy answer. Many people voted for the Republicans, even though Romney seemed to tell each group he addressed what they wanted to hear. Perhaps in the back of the minds of the voters regardless of what Romney said, the concern was to vote Republican. The motivation could have been acceptance of the Republican Platform or to get rid of President Obama at any cost.
>>
>>I am sure that Karl Rove will know what to do to allow the Republicans to win in 2016.
>>
>>On two occasions within my lifetime the “experts” have announced that the Republican Party was dead or no more. The first time was when Berry Goldwater lost in 1964, and the second time was when Richard Nixon resigned. The Republicans have a dilemma and it will be interesting to see how they address it.
