>After my niece played some games on our computer, suddenly I saw Chrome was installed, and also set as default browser. I'm sure the website just tricked the unsuspected user into installing Google Chrome on that machine, but later Google will say "look how many choose to move to Chrome because that is their preferred browser!".
>In my opinion it's just dishonest behaviour, and you could almost categorize this as a troyan horse virus. They say "you can uncheck the checkbox", but they count on the fact that most users are not advanced computer users and those will just keep everything checked what is set by default, and often don't read exactly what is on the screen. If the argument would make sense, why do they check it in the first place? Because the user can check the checkbox if they do want Chrome installed, isn't that the case?

That is correct. I have looked at various persons doing some installs and they always keep all the default as is. Heck, even me yesterday I missed one. :)

And, I agree that this sales pitch is not legit. But, knowing that everyone has to install their player, they can then offer some kind of agreement with 3rd party vendors to integrate their browser in the install. It is something that would be probably adjusted. This type of agreement is not fair IMHO.
