I have used a Zebra printer to print kanbans for a Japanese manufacturing company.

Awesome little printers. Reliable. Fast.

Their programming language requires the construction of a text file with macro portions. You get the format the way you want it, read in that file, and then do STRTRAN() on the macros to replace with the content of that particular label.
