Title:
Converting 2.5 Dos to VFP 6
In the process of converting a 2.5 Dos application to VFP 6, and ran into the following problems...
1. Converted a few reports and have found that in some cases, the "controls/fields" on the right hand side of the report were either cut off or all together missing. Upon further investigation, (using the xxxxx.frx file and browsing) it was determined that the controls/fields were not missing, but the HPOS value was larger than the report itself. Short of manually editing each HPOS, any ideas on how to correct/prevent this?
2. Converted a few screens (visual) and have found that the OptionGrpoup control generates an "Color Resource error". Thru trial and error we found that deleting the "ColorSource = n" property of the object corrected the problem (again using the xxxxx.scx, followed by browse). Any way to convert a screen withhout manually correcting the Properties records?
We know that the absolute best way to migrate to a Windows platform is to rewrite from scratch. However, with our limited resources, and the size of the application, a rewrite will take at least 18 months. We hope to buy some time for a proper rewrite by spending a month or so converting the existing Dos app.
Any solutions will be greatly appreciated, thanks
