In addition to Al's advice: if current partioning is single disc, change that to either:
Os+Programs
Data
or
Os
Progams
Data
or even better
Os
Progams
Data
Os-Safety
before doing serious further setup. Dunno if xxClone still works,
but either that or a tiny Linux gives you much added security against unbootable OS
and no Linux/Win justboot DVD or USB stick at hand 20H away from home ;-)

paranoid setup is
Os (Win)
Progams
Data
Os (Win) Safety
Os Linux Safety
plus
Linux boot stick and win DVD in bag, copies in car...
Or
work from VM's (OS+programs) easily copied accessing Data partions
P.P.S
second approach not really feasible with 2 Gig...
