Are you talking Windows desktop or Metro desktop? The Metro desktop is a complete cluster #$%^. I use one of the third party start menu replacements that bypasses the metro interface completely at login (it's still available for metro programs).
Windows 8 really endeared itself to me last night when for some reason it decided I couldn't log on to my online MS account, so I couldn't play any Microsoft metro based games because it couldn't load my profile. More cloud BS.
Windows 7 will be reinstalled.
