>>That seems rather cavalier attitude given the multiple accusations of misuse/abuse. As a result of the recent stories, a review is being undertaken.
>>A major review was announced last night into the Liverpool Care Pathway, the controversial ‘end of life’ treatment regime.
>>The Association for Palliative Medicine, which represents 1,000 doctors who work in hospices and specialist hospital wards, will ‘identify and explore concerns’ over the system of caring for patients in their final days.

>>Explaining the APM’s move, its president, Dr Bee Wee, said it would be ‘more helpful’ to investigate public concern.
>>She said: ‘There are some very real anxieties among the public and some professionals about this whole concept.
>>‘Instead of simply defending the concept, or reiterating that if only it were used properly, it would be OK; it might be more helpful to stand back a bit, identify and explore the concerns properly, and find ways of addressing those concerns and improving practice.

>And that sounds a whole lot different than what the US media is broadcasting about this. The above merely says that the public should be better informed, listen, analyze the concerns and reevaluate. This does not make the concept in itself invalid nor does it imply that people are actively or passively killed without taking careful steps.

>I still stand by my remark that this issue is taken by the US politics as an argument against obamacare. I'm also still convinced that this subject is abused / misused as per my example of that republican candidate who claimed that people are put to death against their will. That is a disgrace IMO.

To be clear, I have not read/seen anything in the US media about this. My sources are from the UK. Mind you I do not watch tv news outside of major events so perhaps they are mentioning it, I'm just not aware.

>I fail to see what this has to do with the subject of discussion and what point you are trying to make with it.

It has nothing to do with the discussion, just as referencing one of the republican candidates (forgot who) claimed that in the Netherlands elderly are wearing "Do not apply euthnesia" had nothing to do with the discussion. I figured if we're going to sidetrack to the Netherlands, I might as well needle you a bit. ;)
