Saving as Excel 1997-2003 from Excel 2007 or 2010 doesn't work with any version of FoxPro, including VFP 9.0 SP2. That's because Excel 2007 and 2010 add things to the files, which make them not truly compatible with VFP. If you use Excel 2003 or earlier and save as Excel 1997-2003, it would work. Otherwise, you need to save as either Excel 5.0 (95) or CSV, depending on your version of FoxPro. I don't know why Microsoft tampered with old Excel formats, nor why they never made late versions of VFP recognize them.
