Santorum's a blithering idiot. Maddow is a snarky unwatchable baffoon. It should come as no surprise that I did not see this. ;)

one of the republican candidates (forgot who) claimed that in the Netherlands elderly are wearing "Do not apply euthnesia" had nothing to do with the discussion. I figured if we're going to sidetrack to the Netherlands, I might as well needle you a bit. ;)

>The point I was trying to make was that American politics seems to misuse and abuse examples of other countries to scare off voters with straight out lies to prevent them to choose for the other side. The dutch euthanasia claim was an extreme example of that, and very simular to the debate about the liverpool death pathway: It does not have anything to do with facts, but everything to do with fact free politics.
Again, I'm not citing (nor reading for that matter) anything about LCP in the US press. I'm reading this in the UK press about a UK program which is now under investigation in the UK. It has nothing to do with US politics nor did I bring it up in that regard.
That American politicians us foreign "examples" for their own purposes is no surprise. They're politicians! They will say or do anything to get elected and stay in power.
