Yes on my way home so about 18:30. Nice dry evening , well lit road and I had on my reflective bits and a big red flashing light on the back

>Sounds nasty - but glad it wasn't worse !
>Was it dark ?
>
>>Beats me LOL.
>>
>>I know I was hit square on from behind by a Toyota Corolla. The back wheel of the bike is smashed in and there where witnesses.. Happened on a roundabout.
>>
>>But I have no memory of it at all. I remember being on my ride home probably about 200 yards from my house and the next thing I knew I was in an ambulance with paramedics cutting my clothes off.
>>
>>No broken bones just a nasty concussion and bruising down my left side. My solicitor is now talking to her insurance.
>>
>>>How did your bike accident happen ?
>>>
>>>>Just got wedged in there after I got knocked of my bicycle.
>>>>At least I got the benefit of our socialist health care :-)
>>>>
>>>>Actually we're really exploiting it as a family. My sister has stitches in her face after being headbutted by a horse last night as she was leading it back into the stables and it threw a wobbly..
>>>>
>>>>>Ummm...Nicholas? You want to borrow my crowbar to get your tongue out of your cheek? That just looks painful and if you leave it like that, it's gonna get stuck.
>>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>>>How come those fat ugly actors stay secret so long. We need to know the truth about Danny DeVito now.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>naturally its a major concern to me when watching actors and sports people of any sort that I know everything about their private lives. :-) How else can they be my moral compass.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Tell that to some of the comic book geeks who were just SURE the world was coming to an end before the first X-Men movie came out. Now they love Jackman as Wolverine.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Whether Cruise is gay or not is, to me, a moot point. I get really REALLY tired of 'open secrets' that are nothing more than something that came out of the gay community as a rumor that some tabloid grabbed and ran with. By the way, according to some of my gay friends (at least the male ones), Hugh Jackman is gay. So is Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. Seeing a pattern here? Mel Gibson was also gay at one time. It's all 'open secrets'.

>>>>>>>>It seems to me it matters less when it comes to a comic book character. IAC, and I say this not knowing whether you have read any of the Reacher books, his size and physical prowess are essential to the character. Having some sawed off guy like Tom Cruise portray him is a laugh riot, as movie critics like to put it.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>I think I just figured it out. My point remains true but I just plain don't like Tom Cruise. I used to. "The Firm" in particular is one of my favorite movies. But as time went on it became an increasingly open secret that he is gay. I have no problem with homosexuals per se. I think they're born that way. What I don't like is him staying in the closet for career reasons.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>One of the supermarket tabloids had a brilliant snarky headline after Cruise and his latest beard, Katie Holmes, had a baby: "Who's the father?"
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>Jackman was hired to play Wolverine - who, in the comics, was about 5'5" or so. Jackman stands 6'+. So if he can play 'short', surely Tom can play 'tall'.

>>>>>>>>>>The Hugh Jackman theory?
>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>Not that I'm aware of.
>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>Probably because he's the producer too? Otherwise, it's the Hugh Jackman theory.
>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>Hello, Dorris Beard. Are you by any chance related to Katie Holmes?
>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>It's really none of my business but I am irritated at the constant commercials with Tom Cruise starring in the new movie "Jack Reacher." The book series is one of my favorites. The book character is 6'5" and 250 pounds. How was Tom Cruise ever cast in that role?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>I feel your pain. 'Beaird' is historically the correct way to spell the name and it has a distinct English, Irish and Scots branch. How the name got spelled over here depended on if your first family member hit Ellis Island on the way in (mine was 1780-something, so no) and how literate the person was taking your name down - or how literate you were to be able to spell it for them. Hence 'Beaird', 'Beard', 'Baird'.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>It's pronounced, at least in our family, as 'beard'. One nice thing though, when telemarketers call it sounds something like "Hello, is Mrs Beeyeard there?". I have absolutely no problem saying "Nope, no one with that name here.".
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>And forget trying to explain how to spell it. I just go with 'Yeah, 3 vowels together.' because people want to spell it "Bearid".

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I have an English name (Whiteley), and I have only had two Americans pronounce it correctly, as far as my family is concerned. By the way, I am related to William Whiteley of Westborne Grove (the world’s first department store).
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The name is Old English, the color White and ley added. Ley in Old English became Leigh (middle English), which became Forest (Modern English). Considering the name started from Denmark, moved to Normandy France, and then England, has been interesting to trace.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Americans like to pronounce Whiteley as Whit lee or Whit a lee. White lee seems to be too difficult for most people to understand. In Missouri, I was assured that my name was pronounced Whit lee! Of course in Missouri, they like to pronounce the name of their state Missour ah.
