At a minimum, it better be a look at how we treat mental illness here, and addictions, and how available those treatments are to EVERYONE.
With all do respect, but a lot of those mentally ill people will not have been diagnosed until they commit the crime. It is not resolving the problem. There just need to be a lot stricter policy in place to ensure that gun owners have a blank slate and are checked periodically for the way they store and transport their guns. Assault and semi automatic weapons don't belong in society at all.
