David Letterman has been good on this subject. He says we don't need to worry about the fiscal cliff, we're all going to be dead before then according to the Mayans.

It will be interesting to watch his show tonight. He reacted with genuine outrage after 9/11. On his last show, broadcast last Friday night, there were superimposed subtitles saying it was recorded on 12/13/12. Meaning it was recorded before the events of Friday in Connecticut. I don't know if it is common to record two shows in one day and then broadcast them on two different nights, but it was a wise move. You sure wouldn't want to be making the usual jokes and ignoring what is on everyone's mind.
