>Not sure I get this. Snip: "Wireless signals fluctuate randomly in the enclosed space of an aeroplane cabin as people move about."
>But since, presumably, the spuds were not moving around (or using WiFi) I'm not sure what they learned.......

Interesting article and a good example of what the media reports these days.

The spuds learn quickly to remain still or become mashed, fried, or chips. :)

The statement, "Wireless signals fluctuate randomly in the enclosed space of an aeroplane cabin as people move about." is inaccurate! Signal propagation can be proven mathematically, and verified with appropriate measurements. A mathematical model could be created and used for design purposes to optimize the required environment.

Further, the article mentions “people move about”, and that the sacks of potatoes sat there for days, then compares this to “people who would otherwise have had to sit motionless for days while the data was gathered". What happened to the "people move about"?

I base my above observations from my previous life as an electronics engineer and scientist, and my interest in attempting to communicate in the English language.

We have people in the United States who write articles and have little concept of language or how to write a story. It seems to be a common problem and people get paid to do this, while others are subjected to such nonsense. On top of this advertisers and subscribers get into the picture, to infuse such trash with money. When all is said and done, what have we learned? Tune in tomorrow folks and get more of the same.

Personally, I think that the author of the article had too little to do, and thought that helping to sell potatoes was a good idea! :)
