Another great musical link -- Darlene Love. She was on the David Letterman show the other night. Dave said it has been a tradition for her to come on the show at the holidays. You may or may not remember her as a singer. She was one of many memorable acts produced by Phil Spector, whose gift to music was the "wall of sound." He later became notorious for offing his wife and being convicted for it -- he's in the jailhouse now -- but he left behind a legacy.
Here is the latest rendition -- "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" The wall of sound. Even after all these years she can still blow the roof off.

My favorite part, even better than Darlene, was American soldiers in Afghanistan giving shoutouts to their children, spouses, lovers, and others missed back home. If anyone watched those and didn't feel something, Jack, you dead.
