>For some reason I have always had respect for another person’s home, be it a stranger, a close friend or even my brother. If I have been invited to someone’s home and his or her front door is wide open I will not enter. I will ring the doorbell and call out until someone answers.
To me, this depends on the relationship. There are some homes where I know that I'm welcome to walk in, and many others, where the standard is knock and then come in, calling "hello."
There are plenty of people I expect to just walk into my house if the door's unlocked rather than making me come to the door.
In both cases, it's about relationships and community.
