I miss it on my laptops too. I believe Lenovo still has them. All I've been able to find elsewhere is the touchpad. I'll admit this touchpad is better than prior models I've had, but it's still not a trackpoint.
I have two KPD8923s that I use, one for my notebook (which also plugs in to a full-size monitor at work and home), and another spare I switch out with my IBM Model-M at times when I want the trackpoint features.
