>>I have Dell Latitude E6500. While I was doing the Windows Essential Scanning something happened and now I don't see partition D: and E: on my computer. Now I hear the sound from the computer playing some files, swearing, etc. So it must be some virus or Trojan got into the computer and not allowing me to see drives D and E.
>>Any suggestions how to get this sh*t out of my computer?

http://www.raymond.cc/blog/13-antivirus-rescue-cds-software-compared-in-search-for-the-best-rescue-disk/Thanks, Al. I bookmarked the link and will get one of them (and hope I never have to use it!). It was right around New Year's five years ago that I really got nailed by a virus. I was running an AV program, not sure which one, but it still wiped out my hard drive as well as the external hard drive where the automated daily backups were stored. At a cost of around $150 a data retrieval service got back much of the external HD but quite a bit was lost forever. Never again, I vowed. An automated off site backup service (Carbonite) has been added to the mix. If something nasty did get through it would still cost me time to get back up and running but I don't think I would lose data.
You are not only very knowledgeable about this stuff but also cautious, I think. Can I ask what your defense strategy is? Maybe this discussion can turn into a Christmas present of sorts for some folks so what has apparently happened to Dmitry doesn't happen to them.
