>>If I remember you lived in Fallbrook? I remember the fire that destroyed that area. I have close friends that live in Vista, and my dad lived in Valley Center. I remember the area in the mid 1960's. Hiway 101 was one lane in each direction from San Diego to Los Angeles! :)

>>If you need some suggestions about the guitar let me know. I have been playing that instrument since I was 10, and have 60 years of experience, including working professionally. In fact I play over a dozen musical instruments, which I started doing when I was 6.

It is good to learn some basics when you begin learning the guitar. I like to teach basics along with a few easy and interesting pieces of music that the student has heard. Some students want to play like his/her favorite artist on the first day. It is good to have a goal but you have to realize there is a journey to get there.

Having a “good teacher” is essential! A few lessons to get started can be of real benefit. You can find some good guitar courses on DVD, which are not too expensive, but you have to really do your research to find a good one.

My dad joined the Marine Corp when he was 17, and that was in 1938, and did basic training at Camp Pendelton. He was stationed in Shanghai, China for a tour, from 1939-41, “enjoyed the Pacific Islands”, including Okinawa from April 1st 1945 to June 15th 1945. Three men survived from his company. The good news was that he was discharged early in October 1945, due to his service before WWII. I was three and remember that day so well! We had a great Christmas!

My dad is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. What a view of San Diego!
