Jim thanks for the information, it is very helpful and I appreciate your time in aswering my questions. I am not very proficient with VFP yet and am learning something new every day.

I used your code and it works well for new records. I tried to also use the replace command so that the person could edit the table without creating a new record. I tried the REPLACE - - WITH command and recieved a data type mismatch. The field in the table is a general field and I am selecting a bitmap image. Why doesn't fox like this command?
