Then he went on a rampage already an armed criminal. In short, I think the criminals do not have problems getting the guns for the law abiding citizens already have an easy access to them.

Probably true if you're talking about people who are choosing a "life of crime," but the easy availability of guns makes it easier for those people to steal them, and makes them available to people like Lanza and others who shouldn't have access to guns.
