Not to argue the point, as I use both video's and text help, but there is one other thing going on here.

The "new generation" really uses sites like YouTube to learn how to use stuff (some very technical stuff), so they are really use to video's. Perhaps most of us "over" 40 don't quite get this yet - I am even surprised. I just met with a good friend of my son who Duke University brought in who is a specialist in this area of video training. Evidently it is only going to get bigger.

As a side note which is kind of funny, I had a client call me a while back and when I answered the phone she was surprised she was talking to the preson who did the videos for her software. She actually told me she found them soothing and would just turn them on while she was doing other stuff in the office...lol. Kind of made my day.

>>>I often just do Camtasia video's instead of html or printed help. Guess it depends on the type of application. People that don't like to read seem to like the training video's.

>>But the flip side is that using a video on an ongoing basis is a pain. Videos can be great for initial training, but then documents are much better so you can find exactly what you need.

>I (once more) fully agree with you. Video's are only for introducing and not for help files, it is indeed a pain to have to watch a 5 minutes video just to get the answer to a simple 'how to do' question.
