>So people don't buy hardware from vendors that use slave labor, right?
I don't know. Do "people" do that?
The general attitude of most is as Craig points out: people don't care. Most people want what they want, and don't care how they get it. This trend is indicated in many areas of life, and by many factors. It's the inborn nature of lust/want/greed that comes from our state of desiring so significantly to serve self, rather than others.
Dennis Miller had a bit about this (back in the 90s), though he was referring to tennis shoes. He commented something along the lines of (paraphrased) "I'm like most people, and don't really care what slave labor, or child labor, or work environments, or foreign governments, or tyrant corporations are used, just so long as I can get a decent pair of Nikes at low cost."
I remember thinking even back then: "sad"
