The general trend of upgrading to the latest version of Windows more slowly has been going on for a long time, particularly in the corporate world. Also, Windows itself is becoming less relevant as people do more and more of their computing on the web.
I've been using it since the early alpha days. I love it and won't go back. It gives me everything of Windows 7 and then the new touch interface of "Metro"....
