My brother in law was from Northern Germany, and knew a man from Germany, whose family lived near the Swiss border. I talked to this fellow many times, and I remember his first name was Gary. One day he decided to return to Germany to visit his parents.
He flew into Switzerland, and rented a car. After crossing the border he headed for home. A few minutes after arriving home the German police arrived and arrested him. He had excepted from jail several years earlier on drug charges and fled to the United States. This occurred in 1982 and amazed me about the efficiency of the European system.
