Thanks for the quick response.

I eventually traced it to a problem with a VCX that has OLE objects embedded. The apparant hang was actually a really long loop looking through the VCX. If I waited an hour or so, it would complete.

By getting your latest version and setting it to skip that file, everything works like a champ.
