Just for fun, I played around with this idea a little. Minimal-size, borderless spinners will
fit (tightly) with month+year text enlarged to make (almost) enough room side-by-side
above. But the problem then becomes what to do about the relative positioning of the
spinners as the calendar page (month+year caption) changes. The spinners' positions
must be fixed, because the user could be repeatedly clicking or spinning with them.
So, the other choices are to either (a) sometimes have the buttons be relatively off-position
as the page/caption changes, or (b) split the month and the year labels and have the
distance between the two terms change (sometimes significantly) as the page changes.
Neither option looks very attractive (to me).
