You would create a timer object instructed to call a function which does what you need, at a point and time when the trigger condition is met.

It is executed later, after the object in question is no longer on the call stack (the trigger), and the clearing won't throw an error.

The trigger can be to call a function which tests something, and then returns .t. or .f..
