There's very little code in our forms, for the most part: it's in the framework. The same will be true in Lianja, the exception being that business rules will run in the data engine exclusively (by our choice). Of course the business rules will be written in VFPish as supported by Lianja. It's like having SQL Server with VFP as the scripting language.

Many years back I hoped VFP will actually become exactly that. If this ever became reality (with somewhat reduced pricing on MSSQL database licences) I could not foresee more powerful environment ever. We were able to beat Oracle/Power Builder apps (using left hand only {g}) despite the fact that VFP was treated as cockroach in MS soup ; Imagine what would have been MS-SQL vs Oracle market share today if VFP was really first class citizen at M$ (rather then undocumented temporary worker) and strategy was actually geared in this direction ? Just food for thought ;)

If Lianja ever achieves that, or even just provide stable working environment where this is doable (+ flexibility to make your own frameworks as we did in VFP) then it might very easily become clear winner in terms of VFP successor choices. There are many frameworks/platforms that let you do many things their way (or highway). I am waiting for one that will let me do things my way using their platform/database as safe/affordable housing only.
