>My condolences - that sounds like it was a particularly nasty, professional, targeted hit. Was anyone ever brought to justice? Did you ever find any evidence of your data or work being used by others?

Nope. Smudged prints - I had been sure in advance that it was no amateur deed.
No evidence - might also just have been a very low kick aimed at me personally
or my role in the company.

But if I had to bet money I'd guess my routines went into one of the then new thing
of internet markets for used cars enhancing their model search and validation.

>In your shoes I'd need to trace all my services back to the utility point-of-presence (or even further) to check for bugs or other droppings. Also replace or thoroughly check all electronics that might be able to record audio/video, connect to a network or the Internet, or act as a host for a bug that could do those things. More than merely a PITA.

As I am oprating at much lower levels today I am nearly positive I am not in any sights this century.
But having good routines in place helped me back then when everybody was talking about
backup streategies to floppies or floppy streamers and I had SCSI-DAT streamers for 2 PC's...

regards
