>When I was in college, I got my first programming job for a department on campus. I had to do a program in dBase II on a dual floppy CP/M machine. One day I ran into a problem that I couldn't figure out, so I called a professor on campus that had written a book on dBase II. He looked at my code and saw a PICTURE clause of "99999" for a character field and immediately told me "You can't do that. The field isn't numeric". I gathered up my stuff and walked out the door. Unfortuately, the next quarter I had to take a class from him...luckily it wasn't dBase.

Hey, my first computer was a ZX-Spectrum 48K!!! The biggest program I wrote with it was the usual LOAD "" to play the game in the K7... :-)
(obviously I also wrote some CLS, PEEK, POKE and MERGE... Is there anything else?)
