:-) I got it. But...

The thing is ... to many/most out there, it will work exactly that way. It's bait for the trap: "Save money, get more service."

And in the next 10 years we'll also start seeing the other required part, which is demonstrated in a scene from The Hunt for Red October:

Capt: They're using their active sonar as if they're looking for something, but nobody's listening.
Ryan: What do you mean?
Capt: Well they're banging away at almost 30 knots. At their speed they could run over my daughter's stereo and not hear it.
Ryan: They're not searching for Ramius. They're driving him.
Capt: Driving him where?

[screen moves ahead showing enemy ships]

Ryan: Hounds to the hunters.
Capt: Your sub captain's going to make it to America alright, Mr. Ryan. He's going to die within sight of it.

Something similar will happen to encourage the migration of independent holdouts to cloud-farm server centers. It will become very natural at that point to migrate, and it will actually appear quite foolish to continue "going it alone" on your own, separate, isolated system.

This is happening everywhere, in all aspects of everything online. And it's not about money -- it just might outwardly appear that way.
