What software are you usihng to try the installation disks? If this is the Setup Wizard in VFP 6, you probably want to use a different software (e.g. Inno --
http://www.jrsoftware.org/ ) -- I'd encountered numerous situations where generated the setup package did not work at all (or more frustratingly only partially) on newer computers.
If this is Setup Wizard in VFP6, one possible problem is on occasion (at least on the initial startup) it tries to update files within the "c:\program files" (or on 64-bit Windows "c:\program files (x86)") -- assuming that you installed VFP6 in the standard location. The "c:\program files" folder in Vista (and later) is read-only, so that could be your problem. Although the folder virtualization feature *should* take care of this transparently, I'd seen enough situations where it didn't work as expected and got confusing results.
