I looked at a few alternatives to VFP, including taking a week long course in .Net several years ago, but they all seemed to be not only a different language but also a different way of doing things, a different way of how to build applications.

I like the local database option, memory cursors, and the easy binding of controls to fields/variables that VFP offers. When I started looking into WinDev it become quickly apparent just how very similar it is not only in its language style but also in how you build an application. So the language learning curve is much flatter than say learning C# plus the mind-set for constructing apps is essentially the same as VFP.
