Recital is still very much in business, with most business (it seems) in banking (realtime operations) and defense.
Recital was created by Barry Mavin, who owns Recital.
Lianja is being created by Barry Mavin, who owns Lianja. The smarts in Lianja, what needed to be core, what could be separated out, how they should be related, came from his long experience using Recital (and continuing development on it) over the past 26 years. These are the kinds of smarts that come from expertise, yes, but also from real-world experience. That's why Lianja, once I grokked it's nature, has me excited: it's the same kind of fit that VFP had, but with many, many more capabilities.

>Hank, can you clarify this: Did Lianja grow out of Recital and is there no more Recital?

>>Recital has been around since 1986; and the recital engine is at the heart of Lianja. And Lianja uses today's technologies. So I would classify Recital/Lianja as also having a pretty good run, and that run is getting new life in Lianja, running Windows and Linux Servers (no recompiling or rewriting), and running clients on Win32, X64, MacOS and ARM (iOS, Android and WinRT).
