How much progress in HW did we have since Y2K ? Moore definately slowed down.
If you compare OS running on >=512MB non-persisted Ram with double core CPU >=1GHz (having more computing power compared to AMD K6 or Pentium I or II or being in line with Coppermine PIII at similar speeds), you will find that Linux (in Android) and Unix (in iOS) nibbled away quite a bit of market share in personal computing devices.
