Maybe that is true of what they think at Microsoft. Interestingly enough, I recently read an article by Dino Esposito in MSDN Magazine on this exact topic. He is generally considered an industry guru and said, in essence, that you are going to have a really hard time making one size fit all since the devices are so different. Looking at a smartphone screen is a completely different viewport than looking at a desktop monitor.
