He speaks the legal position beautifully -- rights cannot be taken away except by due process.

Citing the Connecticut Constitution was also interesting since it was passed in 1788 and conveys the words "Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state," making it very clear why citizens have the right to bear arms, and from the same time period as our own U.S. Constitution. http://www.cslib.org/constitutionalamends/constitution.htm
