In addition to Naomi's comments, maybe your issue is that only the first line is showing. In that case, in the properties of the field you will need to select the "Stretch with overflow" check box. That allows the field to grow vertically to accommodate the full contents of the memo field.

If you do that, and you have any other fields below the memo field, you will have to change their Object Position to "Float" instead of the default "Fix relative to top of band". This will allow their position to adjust to the actual height of the memo field above them.
