I don't think there is anything relaxing about the Middle East, especially pertaining to nukes. A number of nations already have them (including Israel) and others are working on them. Given the historical enmity there it is not far-fetched that one will be used, and who knows where that will lead? If we are going to succeed in destroying our planet I think it's a good bet that is where it will start.

Recently I read an excellent long article in The New Yorker about Israel taking out a nuclear site in Syria. Of course Syria denies that it was any such thing. (Based on "bird's eye" surveillance photos a U.S. spook said it was either a nuclear facility or a fake nuclear facility). Israel played it smart -- they made no announcement about it, leaving Assad a face-saving way out. Which was also to say nothing. Officially it never happened.
